Advancing National Integration
Name of the Project: Supporting civic integration of ethnic minorities, namely, of Qist and Chechen women, residing in Pankisi gorge. To establish the Council of Chechen and Qist women, encompassing 12 members. The goal of the Council will be to lessen family conflicts, protect the right of visiting/seeing children after the divorce, avoid forced weddings, and solve other daily disputes among the residents. Within the project, discussions on gender issues will be organized with gender equality experts. Further, two lawyers will provide women residing in Pankisi Gorge with the consultations about family disputes, marriage conflicts, divorce, property disputes and other issues related to the procedures for suing in the court. Six different brochures will be published regarding women rights. Project Timeline: 1/10/2012-1/03/2013 Name of the Project: Integration and support of Georgian, Ossetian and IDP youths for civil activation The goal of the project is to establish Youth Clubs in Georgian-Ossetian villages (Shavshvebi, Khurvaleti, Tsitelubani) and IDP settlements (Shavshvebi, Khurvaleti) with an end to raise civic consciousness of youth and foster youth (13-17 age group) engagement in terms of advocacy with local governments on youth-related issues. Also, the aim of the project is foster integration among Georgian and Ossetian young people. The project will result in development of youth leaders in the local communities and also strengthen cooperation among Georgian and Ossetian young people. Project Timeline: 1/12/2012-1/10/2013 Name of the Project: Ethnic minority communities and Georgian media: Together to Tolerance. The Objective of the project is to develop the training programme for 20 journalists and conduct 2-day training for them on broadcasting minority problems and issues in media. The training will be delivered by experts from Georgia, the Netherlands and Ukraine. The training programme will also be developed and 2-day training will be conducted for the journalists who represent ethnic minorities in Georgia. The project envisages recruitment of a media expert who will provide consultations for the beneficiaries of the project. A special manual for journalists (both ethnically Georgians and non-Georgians) will be developed. As a result of the project, the issues and problems of ethnic minorities in Georgia will be better reflected and broadcasted in media. Project Timeline: 1/11/2012-1/08/2013 Name of the Project: "Georgia Unites Us" Within the project, 20 minutes radio programmes will be broadcasted on the Radio "Hereti" for Azeri population. In the programmes, different local and regional issues and news will be discussed in Azeri language and also one day from the life of Azeri citizen will be presented in both Georgian and Azeri languages. As a result of the project, Azeri population will have an opportunity to have a better access (in their native language) to the ongoing events in the country, while Georgian population will get information about daily lives of Azeri population. All these activities will foster integration of Georgian and Azeri citizens. Project Timeline: 1/11/2012-31/10/2013 Name of the Project: Organizing of a Museum an Active Basis for Integration The project will be implemented in the village Zinobiani (Lagodekhi Municipality) which is compactly settled by the Udi people. Since 2002, the Museum of Udi Culture and History is functioning in this village. The goal of the project is to rehabilitate and repair the Museum, improve its infrastructure and attract more visitors. The project will foster popularization of Udi culture, help to preserve existing cultural heritage of the Udi people and also support creation of new space for new exhibitions in the Museum. Project Timeline: 15/10/2012-15/06/2013 Name of the Project: "Intercultural education and integration through theatrical performance" - staging and demonstration of the educational-awareness raising theatrical performance for Armenian language spoken audience in order to promote their effective civic integration through dispelling stigmas, stereotypes and misperceptions. The objective of the project is to organize theatrical performances for Georgian and Armenian population in Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe Javakheti regions with an end to promote positive attitudes and dispelling negative stereotypes among Georgians and Armenians. The theatrical performances will reflect existing stigmas, stereotypes and misperceptions of two different ethnic groups and underline the existence of mutual values and the need for more respect toward each other. The performances will be organized in Tbilisi, Akhalkalaki, Ninotsminda and Bolnisi. Project Timeline: 01/02/2013-01/06/2013 |
