Training for Representatives of CSOs in the New Tax Code of Georgia

Project title: "Training for Representatives of CSOs in the New Tax Code of Georgia"
Year: 2011
Budget in USD: 12 000
Funding sources: Civil Society Support Program/Human Rights and Good Governance Program
Project Coordinators: Ani Akhalkatsi/Irina Lashkhi
Project outline:

Project goal is to extend knowledge of representatives of Tbilisi and regional non-governmental organizations in the new Tax Code of Georgia. Focus group is leaders, financial managers and accountants of CSOs.

The altered Tax Code enacted in Georgia in 2011 evoked a number of new approaches in CSOs activities. In these circumstances raising awareness of CSOs representatives of the enforce changes and extension of their qualification in this respect became very relevant and timely. As tax legislation is a complex document and getting insight of the one requires more than only an overview of the existing legal framework, OSGF decided to organize professional trainings for CSOs employees oriented on theoretical and practical aspects of the new tax legislation.

In spite of the fact that there are several organizations in Georgia offering highly professional trainings, these courses are hardly and in most cases not affordable for many representatives of CSOs. Quantity of free trainings is limited and those for a fee are sufficiently expensive for many CSOs (especially, for regional CSOs).
